Butterfly Pollards
Regular butterfly surveys are carried out on the reserve by Conservation Service staff. These surveys are called pollards and involve walking a set route and identifying and recording all butterflies seen along the route.

Butterflies present at Oxford Island include...

Large White, Small White, Green-Veined White, Orange-Tip, Small Tortoise Shell, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown, Small Heath, Ringlet, Small Copper, Common Blue, Red Admiral, Peacock, Cryptic Wood White.
