August 2011
Grey wagtails have been regular around the Discovery Centre throughout the summer, they may have nested nearby. There are many families of blackcaps in the bushes and scrub while juvenile coots and moorhens are obvious on the Kinnego Pond and open lough.

Young starlings are gathering in large flocks, their change into adult plumage will become increasingly apparant as the month progresses. Swallow and house martin numbers are building up around the Discovery Centre as juvenile birds fledge. Often a number of sand martins are also present.

Please e-mail any interesting sightings at the reserve to oxford.island@craigavon.gov.uk
