Arts Development’s The object of this program is to make art accessible to everyone by:
Placing an artist in the community so people can enjoy creative activities and artists can improve public spaces. This will also enable people to come into contact with art on a daily basis and to raise the profile of the what art is all about.
Developing and implementing a variety of creative initiatives for children and young people throughout the Borough to develop skills and increase involvement in the arts.
To initiate a creative programme at Oxford Island so that people’s experience will be exciting, imaginative and unique.
To work with other Departments and Officers within Council to share experiences and ideas as to how they can encourage creativity in certain areas.
Regenerate aims to bring the creative arts to local communities. A number of self-employed Artists have been allocated to work with selected communities to develop artwork that is meaningful and relevant.
Artists in Residence have been placed throughout the five Southern Board Council areas of Armagh, Banbridge, Cookstown, Craigavon and Dungannon and South Tyrone. Over a three year period, artists will work with diverse groups of people to tackle issues of concern in local communities, including anti-social behaviour, by providing alternative activities.
Artists will strive to unlock the creative potential of groups not traditionally active in the arts, getting them involved in arts projects which aim to help change attitudes and connect people across the various barriers communities face.
Taking the lead on the Regenerate Programme in the Craigavon area is established Northern Ireland art duo Carbon Design - Philip Napier and Michael Hogg
Art in the Wetlands is a grouping of five artists working in residence to design sculptures in villages along the southern shore of Lough Neagh. Based at the South Lough Neagh Regeneration Association, Artists are carrying out research within the community to help design sculptures for the Lough Shore Trail.
CAIM represents the arts sector in Craigavon and feeds information to the Arts Development Unit to support the planning, developing and delivering of projects.
CAIM aims to raise the profile of arts activities happening locally, to increase access to the arts and advise council on the strategic development for arts needs and opportunities in the area.
