THE ANNALOISTE BELL

 

This bell was found on the eastern shore of Oxford Island by a local farmer when he was ploughing in the townland of Annaloiste in 1949. The Annaloiste Bell is a small cast iron bell which is seven inches high. On the front of the bell there is a  simple cross and a Latin inscription which translates as ‘Made for Benitus to worship Christ the King.’.
